Self-Care Tip #1: Grounding

Whether or not you care for or help others, finding ways to connect to the earth is deeply healing. If you garden, take your shoes off and rub your feet into the soil or grass. Flower and vegetable gardens help us to calm and remember our essence at a most basic level. New research about the beneficial effects of grounding is revealing that the free electrons from the living earth, negatively charged, counteract the free radicals circulating throughout our bodies as a result of inflammation. Many MDs are finding more and more evidence that systemic inflammation is the cause of many diseases. While the research is emergent at this time, spending some time with nature on a regular basis is calming and soothing–it shifts consciousness as well. Attending to flowers or fruits or vegetables coming forth from the earth is participating in the miracle of life directly. I suggest you create meaningful ways to connect with the living earth regularly. Hiking, boating  or camping all qualify. Share time with the natural elements.
